rispettivamente, di lui: "Un debutto a dir poco stupefacente"; "Alan
Campbell è riuscito a creare un mondo veramente affascinante... Un romanzo
da non perdere").

Ciao,
Davide.

entusiasmo eccessivo?
secondo me, no.

e te lo dimostro, con una serie di giudizi su Scar Night:

"Urban fantasy at its best." Hal Duncan, author of Vellum.

"For all the questions it poses for the reader, Scar Night is a hugely
powerful and remarkable piece. For the first hundred pages or so, it
smoulders - the epitome of the slow burn, but when the fire catches, it does
so with such a vigorous intensity that this novel burns white hot. It is a
furnace of actions and events that tumble into each other and the execution
marks Alan Campbell out as a real powerhouse author. Scar Night builds to a
climactic symphony of such catastrophic destruction that one can only wonder
how the author can top matters in the next volume of The Deepgate Codex.
Highly Recommended."SFRevu

"Stunning" (Five out of Five) STARBURST

"This book is far too good to be anybody's first novel, so expect a lot of
established authors to get cross." SFX

"Scar Night is indecently good" THE GUARDIAN

"The best and most original fantasy I've read in quite some time" Neal
Asher, author of Polity Agent.

"A visually rich, satisfyingly dark tale of a city of chains, ancient
bloodlust and unshakeable loyalty." Trudi Canavan, author of The Black
Magician trilogy.

"The setting is richly imagined...the entire topography is permeated with
mystery that itches for discovery." Greg Keyes, author of The Blood Knight.

"Scar Night is a strong, slyly written, and very assured debut from a
fantasist to pay attention to. Campbell mingles action and atmosphere with
the grace of a seasoned pro." Scott Lynch, author of The Lies of Locke
Lamora.

"A chain-wrapped industrial city so real you can feel the iron and smell the
fumes-and a violent tale told in murderously beautiful prose." Sharon Shinn,
author of Archangel.

"Vividly imagined, visceral and intensely involving...a stunning debut. I
can't wait to see what follows in the next volume." Sarah Ash, author of The
Tears of Artamon series.

"...a dark, violent fantasy... a fast-paced action-packed book." THE TIMES.

"...an impressive debut, a real page-turner." SFFWORLD

"...a bravura performance... vivid and unique." SCIFI.com

"...stunning... Campbell has Neil Gaiman's gift for lushly dark stories and
compelling antiheroes, and effortlessly channels the Victorian atmospherics
of writer and illustrator Mervyn Peake as well. This imaginative first novel
will have plenty of readers anxiously awaiting his follow-up." PUBLISHERS
WEEKLY

"Thrilling, chilling, and downright unputdownable." www.LiteraryMagic.com

"In this dark and vividly imagined novel, compelling and intriguing
characters are brought together in an evocative and atmospheric take of gods
and angels -- set in a stunningly realized city." ROMANTIC TIMES magazine

"Almost torturously crafted in characterization, plot, and setting,
Campbell’s debut may appeal most to those who like novels in the manner of
Dickens ... whose highly evocative ... memorable style Campbell’s
recalls.”—BOOKLIST .

"...an engaging fantasy read that combines Victorian detail with a dark,
Gaiman-like tone... In Scar Night Campbell weaves a morose thriller that
redefines dark fantasy... The vividly intense action, however, is where this
book really shines. Campbell writes these set pieces with great detail and
originality, especially those that involve Mr. Nettle and Carnival (some of
the coolest characters I’ve read in years). Their unbridled, hard-hitting
action sequences are beautifully narrated and seem to scream for cinematic
translation." MANIA.com

"...a startling and mysterious story... leaves readers groaning for the
sequel." BOOKREPORTER

possibile che abbiano perso tutti la brocca?
insisto: secondo me, no.

(domanda: tu l'hai letto, che sentenzi così arditamente?)
